Maya Angelou

  • Just listened to an old interview where Maya Angelou talks to a Brit Psychiatrist about her life and her influences.. why and how she got to who and how she is now.. I'd only very dimly heard of Maya Angelou, I didn't know anything so went in with a completely open mind.. She sounds like a very cool lady, done so much, experienced so much and at the time of the interview came across as wise, intelligent and very switched on. Very self aware, very aware of her surroundings and the people around her..  Despite all her experiences, some of them pretty negative she sounded very calm and together.

It made me want to learn more.. and so I will try that. I'd love to read her book(s) - I've a feeling that there's a message in there that I and anyone who cares could benefit from. LOL trouble is although I love to read, I am the world's slowest reader so I know it will take forever.. but I will try.

I was very impressed... I found her fascinating to listen to.

    Thanks for this.

Hadn't heard of her, but when I looked up the caged bird poem that Mr Witch recommended, I suddenly realised she's a brilliant poet and someone I need to know about.
