When people say "Trust me", do you trust them more, or do you trust them less ?

Societies cannot function without trust, so what is the best way of engendering trust ?

1) Saying "Trust me" a lot.

2) Being truthful and honest in your words and actions.

I take the statement with 'a grain of salt' or 'a pinch of salt': meaning  to accept it but to maintain a degree of skepticism about its truth.

I believe in the saying: 'trust but verify'.. Past history may come into play too..

There is no reward for trusting, as trust itself is a reward.

Generally i would trust them less as its such a throw away comment that i feel is so over used it has lost meaning

Trust me means little either way.  The actions are what I trust.  They can ask me to trust them till they are blue in the face.  I want to have a reason.  No that is not accurate; I need to have a reason why I shouldn't.  Then, if there are few to little reasons why I should not trust them,  I will make my decision based on performance.

No two words in the English language engender less trust than "trust me." Look at the question another way. Do you believe the AM user who calls himself "delivering the truth," delivers ve truth?

  • It puts me on guard. We shouldn't have to say that. Trust is earned and proves itself out with actions.
