Willow tree leaves have one of the ingredients used to make aspirin, sodium salicylate. It has been used for thousands of years. It will only ease pain and will not reduce the effects of envenomation. Marijuana also alleviates pain. This post was edited by Element 99 at January 1, 2017 8:56 AM MST

  • are you wanting to include opiates as an answer? I actually have the method to concoct one's own pain killer from the common or garden Papaver Somniferum, weirdly enough included in a DIY handbook for dog health. Whip up your own heroin-related dog pain relief remedy.
I'll let you know. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 1, 2017 9:03 AM MST

I think it might be illegal to cultivate opium poppies.

  • I think 'cultivate' is stretching it a bit. I wasn't intending on taking on the Afghanies, E.

  • It's a grey area, at least in the USA.   Technically they could be considered illegal by the DEA but many seed providers and greenhouses offer opium poppies( Papavar Somniferum ).   They are a common garden flower and the official stance by the DEA is to allow it and that growing them is legal but harvesting, drying, or preparing any part of it for consumption is illegal.

Kinda like how it's legal to grow psilocybin cubensis and have spores legally but can't harvest them or use them legally.

Sure, thanks. I been having some problem with pain. Tried medical marijuana -worked well till I began experiencing nasty hallucinations. Then tried kratom,  a mild opioid and is a legal product but is beginning to be ineffective.

Had scans done but nothing showed to indicate cause of pain. Over a year now. Chest pain- only lasts 20 -  30 minutes then stops.  Happens when I lay down to sleep at night.

Actually it was good because an MRI scan showed I had 1st stage lung cancer which was removed by surgery.  Lucky me! (56 years of smoking )

Pain does not occur every night and interesting thing is that after pain stops I sleep better than when there was no pain.

Pain was not caused by the cancer. This post was edited by Kittigate at January 1, 2017 9:20 AM MST

12 years ago while in my class room I got a "odd" feeling over my whole body and sat down for five minutes. It felt like indigestion. It happened three more times but the fourth time it didn't go away. I went to the ER. I had a heart attack. Go get an EKG asap.

    Thanks for the advice.
Various tests i've had indicated my heart is in good condition. I do take medication for high blood pressure. My cholesterol tests a bit high; I don't think there is a problem with blocked arteries. The pain first started in the center of my chest about a year ago and now is moved mostly to the upper part on the left side.
I am seeing my doc this week to renew prescription for blood pressure meds so I will keep him informed anyway.
I do fairly vigorous exercises almost daily without experiencing pain or discomfort.

It's beginning to be ineffective because your body is building up a tolerance to it. I'd be very careful, because even patients that take the meds as directed, can find themselves addicted to them.

If you're still experiencing the pain after all this time, I think the doctors should continue trying to diagnose you but it sounds like all they're doing now is dispensing pain meds. Perhaps you need to change doctors or see a specialist.

    Congratulations on your remission.

Thank you. I am going to finish the supply of kratom on hand right now then try medical marijuana again.  This post was edited by Kittigate at January 2, 2017 9:15 PM MST

  • There are specialist pain clinics which can teach clients how to reduce pain mentally.
I have a friend, Karen, who has severe joint problems. She is attending a pain clinic and finding that the methods halve her pain, making it much more bearable without the long term side effects of drugs.
She's a retired nurse. For over thirty years she had been abusing Endone, morphine, alcohol and numerous other painkillers. A few moths ago she nearly died from alcoholic poisoning and it was the wake-up call she needed.
Since attending the clinic she has become a different person, much easier for her partner to live with and a much more enjoyable friend.

  • Tell us all how it works out for you because I know there are others here who suffer badly from chronic pain.
I look forward to your results. :-)
