Curious, how do you decide if something goes into a blog entry, a question or a statement?

  • I don't use or often even look at the blogs.   I forget about them to be honest.

If it's a question I post it under the questions.  If I just want to say something or make a thread based on a quote or something.  I post it under statements instead of trying to fumble around trying to spin it as a wonky question.

Sadly the polls and statements portion isn't used by many  and posts under them aren't put front and center the same way the questions are so there's a lot of cobwebs in those corners.

Statements are mixed into the questions on the live feed, and inside trending on the front page. Blogs aren't. I wished that blogs were used more, just like statements. As said, im just curious which thoughts people make before they make up their mind where to post. Thank you. :-)

Sorry. I did not express myself any better. They are in the main feeds as any other upload, pictures and videos included. I meant they aren't in the trending column. My bad.

Thanks for this. I was unclear how it all works - being fairly new, and fairly dumb. Thanks to SapphicHeart, too.

There is nothing dumb.  Anyway, not more than I'd be in that case. I was merely curious about how others look at the various options we have given. :-)

Where I want? I'd think the users will decide themselves, so my interest was just to find out how people look a thing it. Yus, it's a cutie... the kitty. :-)

  • I confess i find it hard sometimes... more that I don't always know where it should go... and that sometimes I have a question but can't seem to make it quesion-y

It is funny how questions can appear closed and not really one that can be answered, and at other times we can read a statement or a blog, and feel we can add so many answers for the OP, or others taking part inside the threads. I do think you have a rather good grip on your posts though. :-)

I think the question aspect is fairly straightforward. IMO, the difference between a blog and a statement is how well developed it is.

I'm mostly agreeing with you, JA. However, even questions can be asked in ways that makes them appear more like a statement. In some cases a series of questions that are more like statements maybe even better presented like a blog entry where more details and opinions can be built in. Anyway, I was most of all curious on how we look at the three categories, and the use of them. I'm kind of sad that the blogs don't have more attention. There are some really great entries inside the blogs.

Obviously I am answering a question so this is where it belongs. I am such a simpleton.

You cannot answer to a statement or a blog entry, ever?

I started one blog and made two idiotic statements. Waste of time.

  • I'm a new kid but I'll certainly be looking at building a blog. My entries tend to be tongue-in-cheek; they're often disasters told from a different point of view. Short of bereavement, there's almost always a funny side.

    So I tell stories.

And that applies to my answers as well as blogging. Sometimes the stories have meaning calculated to show a solution, at other times they're just meant to be fun.

But, if you check my profile page you'll find this warning: "Beware! I have a licence to tell lies."

I love your stories. Can't wait to read more of them. We got way to old little of great story telling here.
