Is there a country, other than your own, that holds a place in your heart?

It might be the land of your ancestors, or a place whose culture and history really appeals. For me it's the land known locally as Cymru but which we call Wales. Tell us about your "other place" and post a picture of their flag. Here's the Welsh dragon:

  • For me, it has to be Italy....raised in an Italian home, beautiful country, beautiful language, romance...yeah, romance, one of my favorite things.

  • My father was born just outside of Cardiff. No doubt the city has swalled up his home by now -- it was a long time ago.

  • Does she speak Welsh? (Not all do.) I once had a woman speak to me in Welsh for about five minutes. I didn't understand a word but it sounded like music.

She just has the thick accent. I can only understand her in person, but never on the phone. Weird.

There are two. My grandmother was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. Her ancestors can be trace back that area until the late 1600's. They came from Scotland. So I would like to visit both and explore my roots.

Canada.  My Mom's family lives there and with her passing, I feel like a part of me is there now.
