Whats your thought about dinasours? what do you think they were actually like?

Movies portray them to be giant- building crushing lizards.. people who study in the field are now saying that dinosaurs like the tyrannosaurus were more like birds (not necessarily but along the lines).. Do you think that dinosaurs weren't too much different than your typical hippo, whale, giraffe, ostrich, rhino, alligator, elephant etc.?

An oops on that. Those creatures evolved in a different direction from the lizards. Dinosaurs hip configurations show a completely different method of locomotion than reptiles. I have studied them in depth (I even took a course in graduate school) and they were not reptiles.  They evolved from the same lineage. I is quite complex. If you are interested get a copy of the book "The Dinosaur Heresies" by Bob Bakker. I am such a nerd.

  • well I think that there's enough serious scientists working on it to have a pretty good idea.. they were BIG.. that's a given as the bones collected, when put together make a BIG creature.. even the non meat eaters like brontosaurus.. T rex and Allosaurus were BIG and scary... Their DNA, shares features of birds.. but they weren't birds ...

It's my understanding they looked very different from Hippos etc.. tho there are some pretty ancient creatures about that still exist

  • They wouldn't be nice but I'd take them over those 3ft. dragon flies and lizard sized centipedes.

  • They were big, and small... But no building crunchers

  • Big, clumsy, and probably fast enough to be dangerous. If I could time travel I think I'd visit a different era.
