Do you think that pie-throwing as a form of political protest should be more commonly practiced?

The history of pie propulsion as an iconoclastic and 'political act' is relatively recent, the first recorded instance being in 1970. But is it an under-utilised demonstration of democratic grievance? For example, it has been said that "the pie gives power back to the people because so many feel powerless in the face of big politicians and industrialists". Do you agree?
Would you fling a flan?
Should it be 'pie any means necessary'?

  • Hopefully today/tomorrow we shall find out... maybe that's what the world needs ICBPs ... Intercontinental  ballistic pies ... we could just target the leaders then!
I think I'm on to something here lol

  • I think you are too. Bakery atolls in the South China Seas, I can see that. )
Some years ago a British supermarket chain became so concerned that their pastries might be used in this manner that they actually did ballistic tests.

What would be preferable, a cream donut or a custard slice. )

    Thank you, Oz.

  • It's also more compact and less likely to lose it's filling at high velocity.
    You're right!

  • Plus i think from school days the coefficient of friction of custard is only .7... where as s cream filled don't is .9     we'll get a longer range!

Sorry. I was losing my focus there for a second. I'll dive into Ozzie's slice, err... I'll go with Ozzie's custard slice any day. Ahem. :-P

  • Stay on topic.
Would you endorse the flinging of flans? intercontinentally or otherwise?
Who would you like to pie (bearing in mind that we're staying on topic). This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 20, 2017 5:24 AM MST

Lol. I'm on topic; like I said I'm with Ozzie on this one. Pies do have something appealing over them, no? [staying on topic] Btw, these days anything is more and more intercontinental, if looking for a success. I'm full in for exchange of pies across the continents. [still staying on topic] ;-)

  • They do. The slapstick quality is the key.
I think it's completely legitimate, although non-consensual pie throwing is against the law however. But so what.
Thank you, Sapph, mostly fir staying on topic. )

  • Very good!
Can you see yourself organising into a brigade? or would you favour autonomous action, flanning alone.
What about the filling, any preferences? (no eating the firepower, mind).

  • I would be the lone hero. Condemned to roam the earth fighting evil. One pie at a time.

  • Tomatoes (any pronunciation will do) taken as red.
I have to admit to being too enthusiastic about that sort of thing to the point of appearing unsocialised.

    Thank you, brother.
