I'd know it isn't God talking.

The fact that God knows everything does not mean that He is directly causing everything. He respects our freedom at our level. He makes it possible for us to act freely. If He didn't, we wouldn't act at all - we wouldn't be at all.-Francis George This post was edited by Beans/SilentGeneration at January 20, 2017 6:25 PM MST

"I'd know it isn't God talking." but Jesus said "I don't know" yet Christians insist it was God talking.

  • I would ask Him for His best guess then.

Well, He did say that to me. "Should we keep him or throw him back?"  Evidently, lots of prayers from relatives wanted me to stay here on Earth. This allowed me to live on and later save the lives of 2 more people. Such a bargain!

  • Your question smacks of ageist intolerance. Shame on you!

I've been around since God's dog was a puppy and he was pretty old even then (it's no wonder we call him the Ancient of Days). At our age (God's and mine) it's hard to remember everything so when he says, "I don't know" he's probably trying to avoid saying, "I'm having a senior's moment." Give the poor old guy a break.

  • No reason for you to know. He was the class swot and I was the drop out.

If Jesus was God why did he say that he does not know when he will return?
That would be like God saying "I do not know".

If God said to me "I don't know", then I would believe him not to be God since God is defined as being omniscient.

That's something I wouldn't worry about because God would never say He doesn't know.

Right, some people are like that, never admit anything ;-)

  • I don't know that I would still call him "God", assuming that he could establish he was in the first place.
