  • You're not wrong. I once asked the question of a world champion cyclist and he said, "Getting out of bed in the morning." He said that once he threw cold water in his face and got on his bike he was OK.

I don't think there's enough cold water in the universe to make me get on a bike.

  • When I was training for triathlon I road to work a couple of days a week and that's 60 km (40 miles) each way. I never wanted to do it but as soon as I was on the bike I was fine.

I applaud your tenacity.  Honestly, there are people who are exercise devotees and then there are the rest of us.  I have never enjoyed exercising and I still don't.

  • I wouldn't have done it if I didn't enjoy it, Spunky. My whole family got into triathlon during the 1980s but Mrs Didge was the star. She won the state veteran women's title in 1986. It's hard keeping up with a woman with that much energy.

I hated physical conditioning when it had nothing to do with the particular sport you were doing. Just to build up stamina and/or strength. Otherwise, practice was great. My sports were basketball, baseball, softball and track. Schoolboy days.

Later, golf. The best part of that sport was the 19th Hole.

  • Never tried golf. Tried bending the elbow far too often but that's long in the past now. :)

  • First thing that comes to mind ...
