Did your mother serve you hot cereal for breakfast when you were a kid?

I still like oatmeal the best.

It was mostly cereal but sometimes she would make oatmeal or farina.  Sundays were for eggs and bacon and stuff like that.

  • Farina occasionally.  I never could stand oatmeal.  Taste like boiled paper feels like a lead ingot in the belly.

Haha!  I actually feel that way (like lead sitting in my belly) about pancakes!  I don't know how she made them but ugh.  I would feel sick for the rest of the day.

My mother was actually a pretty lousy cook.  The farina always had lumps in it.  lol.

  • Jinx.  I think the same about pancakes and don't care for them either. They're  just just defective waffles IMHO. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 19, 2017 12:48 PM MST

Yes, almost every day. As an adult, or even a teen, I have never eaten it.

I rarely ate breakfast growing up but fried eggs, bacon, grits, and toast were cooked every morning.  I sometimes would have toast but rarely ate everything offered.  My own kids liked cheese grits better than any other breakfast.  They ate grits and eggs most days.
