Suppose the good fairy gave you the ability to create one great work of art, sculpture, or music,..

Which medium would you select? What subject would you choose?

Marble sculpturing and I would choose a female figure or a dude. Nude of course. This post was edited by Zack at February 21, 2017 3:19 AM MST

  • Remember, this is good fairy time so you can choose any subject you like. Who will be your model?

Hercules for my male subject and for my female subject, I can't decide just yet. Nudes of course. This post was edited by Zack at February 21, 2017 5:04 AM MST

  • It'd be hard to go past Hercules. Even the idea of him brings to mind a magnificent physique.

    Art.

I've always wanted to paint the world's greatest portrait of Elvis on velvet.

  • You'll have to bid for it like everybody else, WW. I'll bidding there, too. :)

I wouldn't even let you bid.  For you WW, I would paint an original.  Either Elvis or Dogs Playing Poker.  Your choice.  And, it would be my gift to you because I know that you would display it in a prominent place in your home, invite all the news crews in and do your very best to publicize far and wide my amazing fairy given gift.

  • That'd be great, WW. Clearly, from your blog, you have the ability to capture emotion.

I surely don't hanker for greatness....I would be more than happy if the good fairy helped me to paint something like this in words....a word picture...;))

  • It would take enormous skill to express something like that in words. It's exquisite.

Shame on you. You left out literature which may be the most profound of them all. I would write a book like "The epic of -O-uknow". Just kidding ;) This post was edited by O-uknow at February 21, 2017 5:14 AM MST

  • It's gotta be better than the one I'm planning to write: "Didge's Gospel". There's enough material already to get it started but I don't feel like religion-bashing any more. There's a fine line between humour and being offensive.

  • "How about just a duplicate Good Fairy?    So I could keep one!"

  • Well, you could try, but that looks like a naughty fairy to me rather than a good one. :)

  • Don't judge a fairy by the lack of her cover. :) This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 22, 2017 7:49 AM MST

  • Dear Didge,

I am into fantasy these days...so I want to paint something in the style of Arthur Rackham, Kay Neilsen, Edmund Dulac...or this one, THE FALLING LEAF, done by Sulamith Wülfing (1901-1989).

  • Beautiful indeed and not a little synchronicity involved.
    Why?
Yesterday I was out walking one a street I've often walked before and, in the distance I saw a tree (that I have often seen before). But I noticed that through the gaps in the leaves I could see the wall of a house, sitting on the slope behind it. And the patches of colour from that wall more-or-less created the shape of a woman in the tree. So I started thinking in terms of woodland spirits and the like. It made me realise how easy it would be to think it was an actual being. And then, 24 hours later, you posted this. I'm gonna walk back that way today and see if it really WAS just an optical illusion or if there's somebody mysterious waiting for me.

    It's called pareidolia.
