Hypothetically, why would anyone sell their soul to the Devil when no matter how bad life is it still may be the closest you get to

Hell and  whatever you get out of a deal with the Devil would be the closest you ever get to Heaven?

  • Hypothetically it's a bit short sighted. The usual reason, in fiction and legend, is to achieve wealth or fame. I should think that people who would consider such a contract must not believe in a hereafter.
