    Yes you can have my attention, because you just reminded me...there is a short story by W. Somerset Maugham, and he spends the first couple of pages just describing a good man.

    Then he says, Okay that's it! I just wanted to see if I could keep your attention for a few moments with no drama, just talking about a fine person.
