What's the difference between blarney and bulldust?

Mrs Didge bought a new hat at the beach and the saleswoman said to me, "Don't you think that hat makes her look pretty?" It was a good line but was still just a sales pitch. Had she said, "You make that hat look very pretty," it would have been blarney. 

What's your definition?
