How many famous, successful Irish people can you name?

Ireland has produced high achievers in many fields. There was Nobel laureate, Ernest Walton, who split the atom in 1931; Shaw and Yeats, both literary giants; artists like Jack Yeats (see pic). Who would you like to honour by listing them here?

  • Don't think I've heard that since I was a kid. And that was a very long time ago.

  • It did me too. I love that song. If you ever get the chance to see these guys, please take it. It was better than any rock concert I ever went to.

    I know, it's great! :)

My beard is similar to his, but mine is more of a copper red (like a penny). My head-hair is dark brown.

  • It adds some to his aggressive appearance, doesn't it. I'm glad he's not looking at me like that.

I worked with a lot of Irish guys at one time so I heard about all the successful people to come out of Ireland, ad nauseam.

    Bram Stoker
    Johathan Swift
    Frank O'Connor
    Frank McCourt
    Thomas Moore
    Maureen O'Hara
    Richard Harris
    The Chieftains
    The Cranberries
    Liam O'Flaherty

There are more but I can't think of any at the moment.  Don't worry.  I won't be back to add to the list.

  • Great list. And, as you said, that's only part of it. They've had bucket loads of talent in so many fields.
