  • It is sexist though, get phoning! If it didn't have 'for women' scrawled across the top I'd just think 'that's a hideous colour' and not think much more about it. If, as a lady, I am expected to want an appliance based purely upon its pinkness then there has to be a certain amount of indignation on my liberal part, no?

The "Kitchenaid for women" tag is because a percentage of the sales of this beautiful magenta (pink) color will be donated to breast cancer research organization in the UK.

  • Really? That's good then (I will donate without having to spend a couple of hundred pounds on a food mixer, btw).
But .... the colour is still marketed as female-specific, whichever way you look at it This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at March 22, 2017 10:23 AM MDT

Almost every product out there that donates a % to breast cancer is pink. It was that pastle pink but has switched to the prettier deeper pink.
I do not consider it sexist.  It is simply another color option for my kitchen. They have many.

  • But you asked a question which I have answered. You don't think it's sexist, I think it's gender-biased.

You could have just made a statement :)

Yes I asked a question to see if others thought it was sexist or not. I am allowed to have an opinion, even on my own topic.

  • I sorta agree, it is not really a question, more like one of those backdoor statements. I know it doesn't matter, just my opinion.

  • Dear God, when did it become so terrible for a company to market to women using pink? Last I checked, women still use appliances in the kitchen. Last I checked, women still like pink. They didn't say "Pink appliances for women because their only place is in the kitchen." They aren't taking anything away from women by using pink appliances. They aren't holding women back from become anything they want by using pink appliances. They are pink. It's a color. It's no different than my Tervis cup having blue and green lids. That's just ridiculous.

  • You're right... I think they were singles... The double entendre only came in during the inflation in the 60s

I know I'm young... but I would have thought that inflating was happening long before the 60s?
