Double standards?

Why do parents think it is ok to interrupt my video games or TV programs but become irate if I interrupt their "paper work" or yapping?

Not overly fond of parents eh? Most aren't like that but everyone knows children should be seen and not heard :P

  • I'm just posting questions for parents to consider and benefit from by improving their parenting skills.  More questions to make parents better parents are forthcoming. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at March 24, 2017 4:06 PM MDT

  • Not so!  Your son really did not break that expensive vase you chastised him for.

lol nice try... but never happened... a) my sons are way too perfect to break anything and I am way too perfect a parent to chastise them :P Seriously, I am a caring parent, I care about their feelings and wouldn't do that

Double Standard would be a good name for a new candy bar. One half white chocolate, the other half dark chocolate. I'm a genius! I'm going to make millions! What were you saying again?

  • This does not answer the question.  Go to your room until you're ready to answer properly.

  • You may be right.  My father did not yap. He BELLOWED and raged.  Plus if parents were better parents their kids wouldn't be upset and feel a need to yap.

  • Paperwork is important,  video games and TV are not.  Plus it's their privilege as owners of the house.

  • Really? HA! See how you like it when your favorite programs are interrupted.  And didn't parents to start a family to share in a life together with their children?  A life which includes sharing a home and that which is in it? Or do you favor parents establishing an elitist dictatorship in a household which  should be a loving family?    And too, parents work hard to provide a TV and gaming consoles for their kids.  Shouldn't they, the parents, be pleased when their kids show appreciation by using them?

  • Well, that's a snappy retort.  Or perhaps a tacit admission your video post is fatuous.

It is a crime to be a teenager. All teenagers must be punished.

  • Darn right! Off to the woodshed.  However your answer does not address my question that I can see. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at March 24, 2017 5:24 PM MDT
