Forget the sic-fi. I really, really, want to meet the real deal. Would like to glean some of their wisdom. I know they are wise because they have had enough sense to not to expose themselves to this planet full of barbaric, vicious, violent human beings. Humans who would take their life in a second just to see what makes them tick. Humans who would pillage and steal their knowledge and technology all in the name of progress and then dump them when they are through. Whoever got their technology first would rule the world. It would be a real blood bath.

There's no logical reason to assume an advanced alien race would be any less hostile or violent than us. In fact all the knowledge we have of life forms would suggest the opposite.
