The tax cuts for the wealthy HAVE NEVER TRICKLED DOWN TO ME or anyone I know. Perhaps they trickled down to thee. I can only go by my experience. Not your words. There is nothing to remember. It never worked. It was a lie. That's why. Why don't YOU remember?

If a businessman makes money, then employees have more security, too. In my case, our family was able to do more things that we could never afford before.
I think it depends entirely on the nature of the businessman bh. Some of them share things with their employees. Give them raises, bonuses when times are good. Others are still as skinflinty and cheap with regard to their employees as ever no matter how well they're doing. So I'd say you worked for a good company! Thank you for your reply!
It is certainly true that if businesses have more money people tend to keep their jobs, and they can even expand and take on more staff. That's why unemployment was so high here in the seventies. Between Labour's high taxes, and the constant strikes by the unions, companies went bust. Because most of Labour's money came from the unions, they never stood up to them. On the other hand, these days, jobs that are created, particularly in manufacturing, are likely to be in overseas countries with cheaper Labour, particularly China. This is true of Britain, the USA, and most Western countries. When all is said and done, there is not a lot of wealth trickling down to the average citizen. Having said that, if businesses were not doing well, we all would be even worse off. What I am really trying to say is that both trickle down economics and socialism are looking for simple answers, when the problems are much more complicated than that.

Anyone who believes that tax cuts for the wealthy benefit anyone but the wealthy has to be a couple of microwaves short of a ready-meal! Having said that, here in Britain, in the late seventies, which I remember only too well, then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Denis Healey used to tax the rich at 83%, and still had to go to the IMF for loans like a third world country. You were only legally allowed to take £50 out of the country, as well, whatever your reason for going! Nonetheless, anyone rich who could go, did, to avoid paying the tax, and of course, rich people always find tax loopholes. Labour's socialist policies were not good for anyone, rich or poor. I don't want to make incorrect assumptions about anyone, but I seem to see Americans complaining about how badly off they are, and then supporting trickle-down economics. In other words, it ain't trickling down to them, but they still support it! Or are they all saying they were only badly off when the Democrats (hardly what I would call a left-wing party, but I won't go into that just now) were in. In any case, they had not got sufficiently rich when the Republicans were in, and it was meant to be trickling down, that they all had enough of a nest egg to get by.

I have never benefitted from it nor have any of my friends/family. Another big lie promulgated by those who are consummate LIARS! "A couple of microwaves short of a ready meal"! Well, they don't wanna benefit everyone.. They just SAY they do so they can give their rich friends more money...
The IDEA behind giving tax cuts for the wealthy is plausible, and that's why they keep touting it. But, it ONLY works if you tie job creation to the tax cuts.. That way we don't have to HOPE the cuts will create jobs.. We'll KNOW they will.. Republicans never wanted to do that.
One wonders why. I think part of it is due to "them/us". The "us" folks are deserving of all good things and the "them" are lazy bums who want handouts. Simple dumbhead view in my opinion but it is what it is. Thank you for your reply goody2 and Happy Friday to you! :)
