Do you have a "concealed carry" (firearm) permit?

Firearms permits are fiendishly difficult to get in Australia, and there is no such thing as "concelaed carry" - if you're one of the very few granted a permit to own one, you have to carry it openly and there are still restrictions on where you may do so.

  • Indeed I do! I carry an M9 compact with me where ever I go. I have a standard sized M9 as well.

I was thinking about getting one. I guess I could settle for pepper spray, but I'd kinda like one of those mini revolvers. They're adorable and I could use it to defend myself if need be.

  • Yes, and I've done simulator training that cops do, that included an active shooter in an office building. Scary stuff.

Yep, and it's not because I want to shoot someone.  It's because we camp in some remote areas where we've seen bears and mountain lions.

Why would weapons need to be concealed from lions and tigers and bears, oh my?

I like to keep it accessible but concealed in case a hiker, park ranger or forest ranger comes by.

I left the comma off after park ranger just to annoy you.

How disappointed would it make you to learn that it didn't work?

No, I don't own any guns. My dad used to have a rifle because he loved to hunt.
