Are Sanders and the left hurting their ability to win elections and enact big change by holding to an orthodox version of progressivism?

Is that a pun because the Bern is Jewish?

Anyway, being a very unorthodox progressive myself, I can only answer with what I predict will be one hell of an election.  I think Bernie is gonna take it, and I think the right minorities are behind him.  People that are sick of guns, climate ignorance, paying up the yin yang for health insurance, and interested in Bernie FOLLOWING THE DAMN LAW.  He's very tried and true.  If you call that orthodox, that is the right kind of orthodox.  The wrong kind is old and stuck in the past.  Bernie was so PROGRESSIVE IN THE PAST that people have finally caught up to him and what he always meant';what he always stood for.  THE LITTLE GUY who gets screwed over and over again.  NOT FAKE TRUMP stupid lies of walls.  Bernie marched and stood in lines with the little guy.  And the little guy remembers that.   He talked the talk and walked the walk always, in the image of the early leaders we used to respect.  We want a leader that won't embarrass us, that can give us more than poverty even though the ECONOMY is so great.  MILLIONS cannot afford to live in a house.  That ain't right.

You know, orthodox stuff. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at February 24, 2020 4:38 PM MST

If there's a pun, it was not intended.

But in this case, orthodox applies to progressivism, not Judaism.

    "climate ignorance"
Sharonna might have coined a new phrase - apt and brilliant.

The term "climate deniers" is quite clumsy and inaccurate. It's short for people who deny that the critical rate of climate change is caused by greenhouses gases due to human activity.

The reason these people deny the human is due to their ignorance of the science.
They are also ignorant of far greater near future economic, human and natural catastrophies that will inevitably occur if we do not change our practices very rapidly. Many such disasters are happening all over the globe now - events which scientists have proved have no other cause but global warming.

So "climate ignorance" is actually a far more accurate term than climate denier, IMHO.

Of course, it is, but be careful. Don't offend the Jews.

This has nothing to do with offending Jews or anybody else. But now that you mention it, nobody has ever worried about offending, persecuting, or killing Jews in the past, so why start now?

...or blacks, or Native Americans, or the Irish, or the Italians, or the Gays. The gays, or the gays or the gays or the gay or the gays!

I know what that's like. Homosexuals have been historically THE MOST persecuted people of all time. PERIOD!.
I see the right always talking about homosexuals getting thrown off of roofs in the middle east when they feel it's convenient, but they only say that because it is illegal to do so in the US.
Gays are still to this day being tortured, killed, maimed, ostracised, denied housing, healthcare, and the right to life. Young gay teens are thrown out on the straight by their parents and left to fend for themselves.

The Jews do not hold the awful distinction of being the only people being killed because of who they are.

True enough, and I don't recall anybody saying that Jews have been the only such group.

The Republicrats don't care as long as they get to save their money.
He is the only candidate who has never wavered on his platform or his ideology and he is the only candidate I put 100% trust in.

    Hello Stu:

Nahhh..  They're shooting themselves in the foot by NOT explaining what Democratic Socialism IS..  They're letting the right wing define it.  And they define it as a Soviet style of socialism wherein the government OWNS the means of production...  NONE of Sanders policies has the government owning ANYTHING..

    GOOD!!! It's about time.

Explain why it's OK for the government to "Take over the health care industry" when a person hits 65 when people are old and need help? Also, explain why it's OK for the Gov to "Take over the health care industry" in regards to veterans? That already speaks volumes.

Like Medicare, people will have the option to purchase supplemental insurance if they want.  Drop the hysterics.

And have you heard people talk about the care they get from the VA? Or how some on Medicare are treated?   Sorry but those two are not good selling points.

    Hello my:

Nahhh...  You can keep your old insurance, if you wanna.  But, Bernie's will cover you for everything with no co pays.  Does your insurance do that?  Since his plan will cover everybody for everything, the only thing the government will have to do is write checks..

Just like Obama said "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor."

Not according to Bernie himself.  And after all he wrote the "damn bill". He just corrected his surrogate AOC for mistating that recently.

You need to stay out of it and pay attention to reality. I see you are following the same old tired talking points throwing AOC into the mix.

A republican, Mit Romney wrote the foundation for Obamacare while governor of Massachusettes and it was called "Romneycare".

While we are at it..How many damn lies did that lousy President in the office say? Over 12000 at last count.  Here's a good one...
"We are going to repeal and replace Obamacare with a Republican healthcare plan." Where in the F*ck is that plan???

    THANK GOD FOR BERNIE SANDERS
