If Bernie's Healthcare has no premiums, does this mean everyone on SS/Medicare will have an increase in their monthly benefit check?

A PREMIUM for Medicare is automatically deducted from each recipient's SS check. The amount is over $100 per month.
If there is no premiums in Bernie's plan, why is he not campaigning that his healthcare play will also be increasing everyone's SS check each month?

Because providing people health care and giving people more spending money are NOT the same thing.

Ok. Then what will be the resulting effect on the amount of a SS recipient monthly check?

What leads you to think one is necessarily to do with the other?

Curious how you are so ready with relevant polling and “research” (such as it is) whenever it supports your position. But not in this case, despite having the same access to that info as anyone else...

Bernie says NO premium. Well currently there is a premium deducted from SS recipients checks monthly.  (Unless they qualify in their state for "extra help") So if no premium is deducted then the check amount would increase....

I have not been able to find anything addressing this matter. I have looked. I have asked supporters etc.

What poll have I quoted in Bernie's healthcare? I am not the only one quotes polls either.

    Ever been outside the US?

I suffered an horrific hand injury a month ago. Spent four days in hospital. Hospital bill = $0.

I pay taxes. Taxes pay for services, that's what they're FOR. Any tax cuts have to be made up in revenue - either by slashing services, or running bigger deficits, or both. In His Royal Orangeness's case, it's both. The Australian healthcare system is funded by a 1.5% income tax levy. I'm happy to pay that. You can have private insurance on top of that, to pay for extras - choice of doctor, private room, no waiting for elective surgery, dental, eyeglasses etc. Basic healthcare is free.

    Not the topic.

This topic is about the premium deducted from people on SS and if Bernie's plan will or will not continue that deduction.

An increase is take-home SS would be a huge shot in the arm for the economy. People living on SS live paycheck to paycheck, so they SPEND it to cover basic living expenses, unlike the wealthy who squirrel in away into a Cayman Islands tax haven. One increases the amount of revenue in the system, the other reduces it. Basic economics - did you study that in grade school? This post was edited by my2cents at February 26, 2020 4:24 PM MST

She didn't kill it, just edited it to what I obviously meant. Bless her, she treats her position as a mod seriously and although we disagree vehemently on politics, she doesn't abuse her privileges.
Makes it even weirder that she supports a despot who most certainly DOES abuse his position on a daily basis.

    Again...off topic.
There is a monthly PREMIUM payment for Medicare deducted from the SS check.   The question is: will that still be deducted under Bernie's healthcare plan.

(Yes I understand people having more spending money helps the economy)

    Hello again, my:

Like I said, there's DOZENS of plans out there, and NOBODY knows which particular plan will be enacted, if any..  IF they adopt MY plan, that $100 plus will go into the retiree's pocket..

    Hello again, my:

You couldn't find it.  I couldn't either..  So, I'm ASSUMING, since foregoing that money would be a TAX, Bernie, like me, would put it into the retiree's pocket..

PS>  Now, if EVERYBODY paid $100+/mo toward Bernie's plan, it'll pay for EVERYBODY'S health care with enough money left over to buy 6 aircraft carriers..

I assume he is keeping it as otherwise it is something that could be beneficial in a campaign.

But yes IF everyone aged 18 and up paid $100 every month it would pay for it. But we both know that is not going to happen. Anyone running on that will fail.....

    209M * $100 = 20.9T

I am saying he will work it around as a payroll tax or something else. But I do not believe he is increasing anyones SS check like that.

    Hello again, my:

Here’s my right wing argument. He’s not increasing my Social Security. He’s just returning my own money

I think some folks here are confused by your question and aren't separating SS from medicare. I am on SS and medicare, so it is quite clear what you are asking. It would be nice to get that extra $125 every month.
