What kind of bear is best?

False, black bear. 

I saw Wedding Crashers accidentally. I bought a ticket for “Grizzly Man” and went into the wrong theater. After an hour, I figured I was in the wrong theater, but I kept waiting. Cuz that’s the thing about bear attacks… they come when you least expect it. Also, Black bears can smell a salami at 5 miles... and they can run faster than a horse. 

Lol theres no shortage of material. 

All Bears have acute senses of smell.  This does not mean they will attack, they may run fast albeit for only short distances. 

 Polar Bears are the most dangerous bear, they will attack and eat you regardless. Takes a lot to put one down

Grizzlies are next on the list, you may dissuade them on a good day.  Bear Spray making loud noises etc are good.  These guys do the most damage around home. Women during their period should not play in any area where there are Grizzles, you smell like food.  Was drafted into a posse that went after one Rogue, took a lot to drop this guy.  Note these guys and Kodiak's do not Hibernate - real fact look it up


Brown and Black are pretty neutral. Caveats here are early Spring when they have come out of Hibernation. Getting near any cub is also dangerous.  Bear Spry etc are good deterrents.


Stop in the Anchorage Airport for the largest Kodiak shot to date.  This ranger is 6'6, 3m 5cm, the pads on this bear are bigger than this guys head.  This guy also had 2 hikers in his stomach when shot

I have no fear of polar or Grizzly bears. I am fast. To give you a reference point I am somewhere between a snake and a mongoose… And a panther.

I am also strong. When my mother was pregnant with me, they did an ultrasound and found she was having twins. When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later, they discovered that I had adsorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No, I believe her tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown woman and a little baby.
