    No. I do remember my dad talking about Slim Whitman, though. The song sounds like something from The Shawshank Redemption.

    Maybe you're thinking of this Hank Williams song that was used in "The Shawshank Redemption"? This Slim Whitman song sort of sounds like the same style to me, too.
