Thomas Jefferson's birthday was last Monday, April 13th. He was just as "big" a founding father as George Washington.

Furthermore, he played an even larger role in our national growth with the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark expeditions. Why is no attention paid to his birthday?

    Few people in history have been as impactful on the world as was Jefferson. His place on Mt Rushmore is well-earned. 

    As a graduate of UVA which Jefferson founded, I personally hold him in the highest regard. Why his birthday goes largely unobserved is an injustice IMO, but then, this is the case with many major historical figures. Why don’t we observe Thomas Edison’s birthday, for example?

    "Said to have?" It was more than that. It was common knowledge that Sally Hemings was his mistress and bore him several children. To me, however, that does nothing to diminish his historical stature.
