Absolutely anything that gets in my food other than cutlery or my teeth is unwelcome.

    Clean air, sunlight, garnishments, condiments?

Those go ON my food, not in it.

    Reread the question.

I'm not fond of garnishes and condiments are part of the food. Air and light are ambient conditions and don't count.
If the food is a sandwich, I don't want too much dry air getting on it either. The bread gets stale.

If a condiment is not already on the food, then it’s not part of it until or unless it’s added.

Air and light are ambient conditions, yes, but I only countered with them because you used the word “absolutely anything”.

If I'm intentionally eating the condiment, it's part of the food by definition.

If the condiment is not on or in the food, it’s not part of the food.

That is a wonderfully, awful picture.  Wonderful that you were able to get the flies to hold still and pose for the picture but awful that the cake is ruined.

Gnats, they are the most annoying creatures besides mosquitos that I can think of.  You can move away from ants and put out fly traps but Gnats come by the thousands.
