Have you ever had an accident with your parents' car, or has one of your kids ever wrecked your car?

#JaiMe's question about Bueller made me think about this question.  My father once bought a new Chevy S10.  My brother was 17 then, so it was the year he got his driver's license.  He wanted to borrow Papa's new pickup truck, and Papa let him.  Later that night, a tow truck brought my brother along with Papa's new truck back home.  The tow truck driver hooked to the back of Papa's truck because the rear axle was no longer attached to the truck.  He had to lift the axle up off the ground with his chain to put it in the bed of the truck.  Papa's new truck had less than 1000 km on its odometer.  My brother never told anyone how he did that.

Thankfully, no. But I am surprised your father didn't demand an explanation of what happened.

I wasn't there, but I heard about it.  I heard there was much screaming and yelling from my father.  My brother said he tried to impress his friends, but never said how he tore off the axle.  My brother is 28 now.  He still won't say how he did it.

  • I've been driving for 12 years and have thankfully never had an accident.

Not really, I hit a parked car once with my dad’s car when I was young, but I don’t feel like that counts.

What was your father’s opinion of its seriousness and whether or not it counts?

    Reported.

My dad never got angry with me or made me feel bad over anything, maybe that’s why I am the way I am now....
