I did not know this did you? If you cheat on your taxes and lie to the IRS you can be banned from owning any firearms. Who else is banned?

Felons even if the felony were non-violent. Good ta know.

But also above that there are 8 states where if you are convicted of a DUI you permanently lose your right to own firearms as well.

Beyond that there are other infractions in other places that will also cause you to lose your CONSTITUTIONAL right to own firearms.

Why does the Constitution not stipulate when you are not going to have that right because you are a criminal a lawbreaker and liar?

Does that mean if it isn't so stated nor is it even implied it should not exist?  Whatcha think? Are liars and crooks as entitled to owning firearms so they can murder people as everyone else. Sheesh. Hard question to answer right? Or not?

The federal form asks if you have been convicted of a felony, or judged mentally ill.  Either of those, and the dealer is not allowed to sell to you.

Unless a DUI is a felony in those states - those laws would likely be found unConstitutional, if challenged in federal court.

While we're on the subject of "did you know" ... it IS legal to own fully-automatic firearms.  aka "machine guns".
You just have to pass a federal background check and pay a $200 tax.
Same thing with "silencers".  Although, last time I checked, you were also allowed to make your own without the tax or background check.  But try proving you didn't buy it illegally, if you're charged with illegally owning it.

Know what is disappointing to me Walt? That the Constitution creators did not provide a caveat to the right to arm bears. It should have mentioned that criminals and crooks and traitors and treasonists would be FORBIDDEN from ever owning firearms. That insurrectionists to the one would forever be banned from owning any weapons. Now how would that be enforced? I have no idea. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday to thee and thine! :)

warning: I may be going off on tangents, here.

Actually, Jefferson foresaw the possibility of using firearms to overthrow the government.
In his letter to William Stevens Smith (Nov 13, 1787):

the people can not be all, & always, well informed. the part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. if they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. we have had 13. states independant 11. years. there has been one rebellion. that comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. what country before ever existed a century & half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms. the remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. what signify a few lives lost in a century or two? the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. it is it’s natural manure.

Note how he admits the people may be taking up arms through misunderstanding or misconceptions.
And the remedy is not to disarm them - it is to "set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them."

I believe when he was writing about remaining "quiet under such misconceptions" - he was talking about both The People, and Government.
If The People are being subjected to misconceptions - it is in the interest of Government (and the media) to educate, or risk a revolution.
From that point of view, Government was just as responsible for allowing the "misconceptions" to reach the point of revolution as those spreading the information.

Sure you could take away the guns from that crowd.
But we tried banning alcohol, and that didn't work.  So they would have been armed with bombs (molotov cocktails).
That probably would have resulted in more deaths, as those barricaded inside would have burned to death, unable to escape.

Know what jumps out? "The tree of liberty MUST be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural MANURE."  Do you agree with that? Do you believe that? I think it is appalling and shocking. So good little jeffie thought that? How many other jeffies were there and are there who equate blood with manure (sh**)?  DISGUSTING How many other privileged WHITE men fathered children by having sex with slaves? So much for Tommy boy. Geez. The more one finds out what the TRUTH is/was the disgustinger ne becomes. Thank you for your reply Walt. Jazz musicians go off on riffs. Musical tangents. They're often the best part of the performance...the riffs. Happy Thursday to thee and thine! :)

"The tree of liberty" part is one of the oft-quoted statements, of the gun debate.
I think it puts a different spin on that phrase, when looked at in context with the rest of the statement.
Jefferson is saying these people take up arms against their government - not because the government is wrong, necessarily - but because the rebels have been misinformed.  IE: They have been duped.

Of course, the "tree of liberty" requires blood sacrifice.
How many wars has America fought, in the name of liberty? (regardless of whether they were necessary, or not)
Sometimes, liberty can be bought with "passive resistance".  But many times, people have to resort to violence to claim their freedom.

Allons enfants de la patrie! Let them eat cake. French Resistance. Underground. Rebels. Was any revolution ever effected without blood being spilled? I shall ask. Thank you for your reply Walt! :)

Felony takes away your right to possess a firearm unless a judge rules otherwise.

This article may shed some light on this whole tax thing. And the possible consequences of such actions.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/why-are-lifetime-gun-bans-being-imposed-on-tax-cheats/ar-BB1ej2c3

“Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them aid and comfort” — US Constitution Article 3:3

In light of all these bills and laws against gun ownership, something needs to be said. The government of the United States is levying war against the people and our laws. In our homes, on our roads, in our courts, and in our legislatures.

When this nation was founded these events had been foreseen. Men like John Locke, on whose writings our Republic was inspired, make this very clear.

"In all States and Conditions, the true remedy of Force without Authority is to oppose Force to it. The use of force without authority, always puts him that uses it into a state of war, as the Aggressor, and renders him liable to be treated accordingly. — John Locke, Second Treatise.

As we speak, with all these anti-Constitutional gun laws, gun bans, and bills, our government is indeed committing treason against the law-abiding citizens of America.

"Why does the Constitution not stipulate when you are not going to have that right because you are a criminal a lawbreaker and a liar"? (you're quote)

The Second Amendment was meant to spell out what our right is. Obviously, they had common-sense and common-sense laws to help keep firearms out of the hands of those who posed a real and dangerous threat to the citizens and the country. If you read the history of the United States and you would know this. If being a liar was a reason for not having any rights then 99.9% of the people wouldn't have any rights.
