I chose to adopt a “Don’t ask, don’t tell” stance on it just this once.  (Cough, cough.)

Oddly enough, yes. A student in my earth science class brought me a chunk of elemental silicon. She found it under a bush in her yard. She said it was warm. It also had tiny hexagonal metallic crystals on the surface. I took it to a materials testing lab, an, being the geeks they were, they were excited to see it. They tested it for free and gave me a print-out of the results. They had never seen or heard of the substance of the crystals, although they were mostly copper. The question is...Where did it come from and how did it get under the bush?

    Yes.
I was mowing the yard one day and I saw three strange-to-me plastic-looking plants -- a long plastic stick and gaudy blooms at the top.
I joked with a neighbor that they looked like some sort of alien life form trying unsuccessfully to imitate earth life.

He didn't know what they were, either.

He did find out they were "resurrection lilies."

I never planted them but they come back each year, looking just as plastic each year.  :)

The picture is not one of "my" lilies but the picture shows how fake they look.
