  • Yes. I read directions on medicines, nutrition facts, lists of ingredients...

If the grammar or syntax or spelling is incorrect, it stays in the store.  No, I’m just kidding.

I normally do not read a lot of food labels, except to ward off buying anything laced with mayo or guacamole.  (There aren’t many known Vegemite-infused products, but even if there were, those inscrutable Aussies would never allow a label to warn unsuspecting victims. Grrrrrrr.)

I know absolutely nothing about calories or carbs or gluten or protein or recommended daily allowances, etc., so I don’t bother to check for them.  My metabolism is so fast and I exercise so much and my health condition is so good that I have never bothered with that stuff. It makes me yawn.

Depending on a product’s shelf life or perishability, I read expiration dates.

As for non-food items, I often check to see where a product was made, as in which country. I am biased toward US-made products, I am biased against certain foreign countries. For instance, a simple cotton shirt with a $29.99* price tag yet sporting a label showing it was made in a country known for sweat shops that pay (usually underaged workers or enslaved people) 23 cents an hour . . .

*This is merely a random and completely made up example.

The pies are edible. The other combos are too weird even for me.

Second biggest supermarket chain (after Coles). Not related in any way to the defunct US and UK stores (which in turn were not related to each other).

I often do because it is an old person thing.

You're too hung up on age. :)  It isn't an old person's thing.  If young people make it a priority to buy food that's good for them, they live to old people longer. :)

How do I know they will live longer?  Well, the odds of a person who has a terrible diet from a young age through their middle years living to be a ripe old age diminish.  Not in every instance, but as a general rule.  Of course, my dad proved me wrong on that score since he had the world's worst eating habits, hadn't met a vegetable (other than corn) he liked and lived to be 93, but he had a host of medical issues along the way.

I have to - between my better half's Hashimoto's and my grandchildren's allergies, it behoves me to be careful.
We had a Chinese takeout a couple of weeks back, my granddaughter ate some Hokkein noodles and went bright red. It's a minefield.

Yes.  They are entertaining.  I get every recall notice as well.  And they can be very funny.  I simply do not see the helpfulness of recalling a curling iron because it poses a danger of burns, .

When I witness human stupidity at its best, I often say "Just remove all warnings."

One would think someone using a HOT curling iron would realize that if you touch it with your hand after, you could get burned.  If this keeps up, the human race is doomed to extinction, not because of climate change, but because of severe stupidity.

I never used to, but when I found out I was pre-diabetic and had somewhat elevated blood pressure, I began to look at the salt and sugar contents of what I was buying.  It is almost impossible to find something not containing sugar and sale, but you can determine which foods are lower in those nutrients.

Only if the plot appeals to me and I can relate to the characters. The tale has to be remotely believable too.
