I like Pictionary, Rook, Gin Rummy, Rummikub, Scrabble, Life, Trivial Pursuit, Chinese Checkers, Uno, Cranium, Yahtzee, and my favorite, Scattergories.
My best friends are Jewish and they always came over Christmas afternoon to eat lasagna with us. For years, after all of the other family and friends left they, along with our four kids and me, played Scattergories. I weed on myself more than once. It's a great game and really fun with people possessing a sense of humor. I have to admit I miss those days and all of my friends back home, especially these.
My only requirement is that the person(s) against whom I'm playing are good at it. One of my brothers-in-law things that spelling "cat" and "dog" are great moves.
I rarely use a dictionary, but for those who need it, you can use it to check the spelling of a word you already have in mind, but not to look for words.
In my house the dictionary was only used when someone played a word that another user challenged. Our rule was that we used words that were actually in the dictionary.
