New York (CNN Business)Starbucks is launching an experimental "borrow a cup" program at select locations in its hometown, Seattle.
The program is part of Starbucks' aim to make its cups more sustainable, and it will kick off as a two-month trial in five Seattle stores. Customers at those stores will have an option to receive their drinks in a cup they can use again.
Here's how it works: Customers will order their drinks in a reusable cup and pay a $1 refundable deposit. When the customer is done with their drink, they return the cup and receive a $1 credit as their refund plus 10 Bonus Stars for their Starbucks (SBUX) Rewards account.
If customers take the cup home, they can also take advantage of Starbucks' partnership with Ridwell, a company that will pick up the reusable cups from your home. Each cup is then cleaned and sanitized and put back into the rotation for another customer to use.
Hey, just for fun - - this was quite a very long while ago (years and years) -- but one time in a restaurant, a total stranger to me (a female), came up to me and said, "I've been looking at you for a while now. And I told all of my friends that you like just like a young Richard Widmark."
She had specifically said 'young,' and I looked up some images and, in some ways, in this image I can see sort of a resemblance. :)
If I ever saw her again, I'd have given her a hug, ha!

The amazing thing is that Starbucks is on almost every corner in Manhattan and in every mall, strip mall, etc. everywhere else. Their coffee tastes burnt to me. I can do that at home for a lot less. In fact, the coffee I brew at home is ten times better than Starbucks.
