    Your parameters are too vague.

What is the time frame? (eg. between February 30th and April 31st)

What were the total amount of questions submitted within said time frame?

Does answering a question with a question count?  If so, does each question asked within a question count as a separate answer?

Does answering a question with both a question and a statement qualify, or does that cancel out the answer?

Is pineapple a legitimate pizza topping?

Valid points...except the pineapple. No pineapple on a pizza.

Pineapple on pizza is an abomination. Pineapple on MY pizza is a capital offence.

Don't get me wrong, I love pineapple. Just not on pizza.

With me, that's almost impossible to tell. Maybe 20%.

A lot depends on who is asking them. And how silly the questions are.

About 20% of yours and Rosie's, half of Randy's and a smattering of others.

I don't know. I miss days at a time, so maybe 25%? Probably less. I don't even look at some of them.

"I reply to fewer than 25% of the questions here?"   Or... "I reply to less than 25% of the questions here?"

I've always thought, when referring to percentages, you use 'less than'. I Googled. We've apparently stumbled upon a gray grammar area. I'll let you do your own search, and I'm sure Stu will weigh in. He'll do the usual "back your bro" schtick and try to strip me of my undercover position with the force. I already know how this is going to end. (Insert pic of 3 white hand/1 black hand cops smiling together here). Grrr!

I don't think I'm going to change now, and I don't see it as a faux pas. I might start purposely making less/fewer actual mistakes now, though. Just to annoy you.

You’re on a correct path if your use of the word “less” refers to the percentage of questions that you answer, but not completely correct (see below). I read it and understood it as you referring to the number of questions you answer, hence the word “fewer” would be correct.

Grammatically speaking, you can’t have “less percentage”. You can, however, have “less of a percentage” or “a lower percentage. Depending on your intent, the angle from which to view the passage dictates which words are correct, and the perception or interpretation of the reader(s) in understanding your meaning is another angle.

Yes. "...maybe 25%? Probably less." [...than 25% of the questions posted would be inferred].

    You're reaching.

      That’s still “fewer”.

  • Less than 1 percent of the questions, because I just setup an account yesterday.  However, I look forward to answering many questions.
