    Shuhak took my first choice.  Martina took my second choice, but her profile pic just gave me an idea for an answer.  Mermaids are mammals, and given their diet of raw fish and kelp, they probably have some different tasting milk.  I think the cheese made from it might be an acquired taste.

      Listen, it’s absolutely appropriate that I have some way to test their skills. The inability to make sandwiches leaves them utterly useless to me. A man has to have standards, you know. Hold on, they’re releasing the tuna fish back into the ocean instead of chopping them up for sandwich meat. I have to keep a constant eye on them, BRB. Grrrrrrr.
