How much weight on its back can a horse endure without damage? Were there OBESE jousters? Armor to fit a 400 lb man would weigh WHAT?

How much does armor weigh? Did any horse die after jousting because of carrying 800 lbs on its back? 400 the man and 400 the armor?

Anyone know that that? Did only slender men joust or did their FAT counterparts joust too?

Those jousters were not very likely to have been obese, because diets in Mediaeval times were more limited and people had to be physically more active just for everyday life, let alone keeping themselves literally fighting fit. (Jousting was a martial art and training, after all.)

The horses were bred for strength and I don't think the armour was as heavy as you quote.
