Thanks. Do you hear the term equally applied to men with a real temper?

Nope. Most would just say "he is a real a*****e."

I was thinking that your interpretation might be that it's similar to saying someone has a short fuse?

That she's spunky and doesn't take any nonsense from anyone.

That's more what I was thinking... and maybe bright and sparkly and a bit loud?

It can have the connotation that she’s sexy.

      Wait, what . . . ?
Not all sexiness is whorish, and not all whores are sexy.

It was just a joke. I don't think the GIF depicts a whore. I'm not opposed to decriminalization and regulation of prostitution, so even if she got paid for sex, I'm not judging!

    Duh.

Thanks for clarifying what you meant by girl/woman.

    Hehehe!!

I felt the need to mansplain* it, I guess.

*My definition of mansplain is how women have to explain things in great detail to men, for obvious reasons.

That’s Jane-‘splaining that you’ve described there. You see, due to being a reversal of the oft-stated male version of that same action, its tag cannot be accurately applied using the exact same words that cover its polar opposite. But why am I telling you this in such a public setting? Drop by my place around 9 pm, I’ll be perfectly willing to go over it with you in more intimate (oops) intricate detail in a one-on-one basis, or in other words, when you and I can just be alone and focus completely on each other with no distractions or interruptions . . .

I've got a serious case of deja vu going on here. Jane'splaining and Mary Jane'splaining. (insert Twilight Zone music).

I'm not going down this road with you again! I don't have to conform to please the patriarchy!

Oh, the non-compliant type, I see! I love a challenge! Shall I chase you around the couch clockwise, or counter-clockwise?

    Thanks for the GIF! :)

    Non-conformist more than non-compliant.

You've used two words! How on earth can that be classed as 'explain things in great detail'?

Surely, something akin to ' A woman is an adult female human.[1][2] Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent).[3] The plural women is sometimes used in certain phrases such as "women's rights" to denote female humans regardless of age.

Typically, women have two X chromosomes and are capable of pregnancy and giving birth from puberty until menopause. Female anatomy, as distinguished from male anatomy, includes the fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, vulva, Skene's glands, and Bartholin's glands. The adult female pelvis is wider, the hips broader, and the breasts larger than that of adult males. Women have significantly less facial and other body hair, have a higher body fat composition, and are on average shorter and less muscular than men.'  ...would have been more appropriate??

Jeez Louise, I just wanted to go down the mansplain road again for some dumb reason. I still can't believe that it means the opposite of what I thought it meant! It just doesn't make sense to me at all.

To be fair, I didn't know what 'mansplaining' was either. It seems you've probably been jane-splaining to me for years...a necessity though :-)

Exactly! Which is precisely why THAT is mansplaining to me! Hahaha!

Or maybe you're just dumb? Hehehe!

I think it had 2 differnt meanings to 2 differnt types of men. One type was a man who couldn't handle a woman who spoke her mind and didn't take no guff  so when they said she is a real  firecracker it was a dis that insinuated that she was a hot head. The other type was men that enjoyed the company of a woman who spoke her mind and didn't take no guff so when they said she is a real firecracker it meant she was a real hoot and the life of the party.
