Why is the government running out of money for Social Security,

but not running out of money for welfare, illegals, and free tuition?

    ONeg beat me to it. Trump fixed things so that the likes of Bezos, Musk and Murdererdoch pay no tax at all. Taxes pay for services.

    Yes, Ray-gun also lowered taxes for the offensively rich, and Dubya's incompetence and lack of oversight didn't help.

    When they increase the monthly payment 10-20 per month they also raise the medicare costs.  
    The citizen never breaks even or has an extra few dollars.  Meanwhile the costs of food, housing and other basic expenses continue to climb.  As a result seniors on social security find it     difficult to live.

  • I think it's often way too easy for people to get SS Disability for decades before they're actually eligible for social security.  They're generally not paying into it .. but getting paid out of it.

      I knew of a man who has been on SSI most of his adult life (I believe he’s in his late thirties or early forties now) and who brags about how he’s scamming the government into paying him to do absolutely nothing. He thought everyone around him would applaud him, we all recoiled in disgust. More than one of us reported him to the authorities, more than a year later they “investigated”, and he said that he was just joking. They apparently fell for it and they’re still paying him, and I still believe it’s a scam.

    Every President spends everything that comes in....does not matter left or right.   The only difference is what they spend it on. 

    People are living longer.  When SS was created life expectancy was 58 for men and 62 for women....SS was 65.  
    In 1940 only 53% male and 60% females who made it to 21 (working age) also made it to 65. And the drew SS for avg of 12 yr males and 14 yrs females.
    The latest chart they give is 1990...when 72% males and 83% females of working age live to be 65. While males drawing for15 yrs and females for 20. 

    So we have more people drawing for more years.
