      Stairs neither go up nor down, it’s the people using the stairs who go up or down. I’m surprised at you, Professor, trying to trip us up on this one, but you have to get up pretty early in the morning to out-fox good ol’ Randall D Randall. Grrrrrrr.

    Classic optical illusion - taken to wonderful extremes by Escher!

    It's curious - I had to look at the drawing for an appreciable time before my view-point suddenly "flipped" from looking down on the treads to looking up at their undersides.
