What are some pop* songs you like that mention religion, spirituality, or higher powers in the lyrics? Examples below.

*Excludes hymns, gospel songs, any other songs that are specifically and directly intended for worship or praising religion or higher powers. The intent of this question is to identify songs that include those references yet are not by artists or groups that primarily release that genre of songs.

I could name many, many of them, but here are just a few of the ones that I like:

“From A Distance” Bette Midler, 1990.

“Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)” Mike + The Mechanics, 1985.

“Loves Me Like A Rock” Paul Simon, 1973.

“Bridge Over Troubled Water”Simon and Garfunkel, 1970.

“Spirit in the Sky” Norman Greenbaum, 1969.

I really like Joan Osborne; she's one of many faves.  Her covers are often better than the originals.

Why not? Jesus was Jewish. So were most of the early Christians - the Romans regarded it as a Jewish sect.

I prefer Dr and the Medics cover. They had the benefit of effects pedals, Greenbaum tried to get the overdrive and distortion by de-tuning a valve amp in much the same way that George Harrison did for Revolution, but didn't quite get it right. There's feedback throughout as a result.

There may be other videos that have better sound.  I just chose the first one.

No doubt.  The Pentatonix make exquisite music and they have the most wonderful harmony.

I agree, the first one was awesome however the preacher is Bob Tilton.  A name it and claim it message, he is a wolf in sheep's clothing, in my opinion.  I know this first hand as I attended his church and could tell you stories.  When I figured out what was happening, I left.  He is the reason I exercise extreme caution when moving through the Christian communities and different churches. Not all preachers are the real deal.
