What is something you realized about your age?

This question was inspired by this post about disciplining children.

https://answermug.com/forums/topic/138892/should-you-raise-you-re-kids-with-no-discipline-for-their-best-l/

It just made me realize that I’m now at the same age as my half-brother was when my dad kicked him out of the house.  My half-brother was a failure to launch.  I’m 29 now.  My dad kicked out my half-brother when he was 29 after an argument where my dad told him to clean his room.  How humiliating, lol.

I'm close to the finish line, such a relief, I'm ready anytime the Lord decides to take me home.  I've wasted too many years of my life, my one regret (with sub categories of course).  All these years and I didn't leave a legacy to humanity, a discovery, (named after me would have been nice) hahahaha just kidding, sort of. It’s sad that you feel like you wasted your life.  I don’t know if there’s something extra I’m supposed to be doing with my life that I’m not getting done.  My life is actually pretty filled up with kids and running two businesses from home.

That being a grandparent is a lot more fun than being a parent.

That’s the way I think it’s supposed to be with grandparents and grandkids.  Grandparents are supposed to be the fun ones while Mom and Dad get to be the bad guys.  Of course, my kids are always nice around their grandparents.  They save their worst for my husband and me, lol. Not surprising.  With children, you have a lot more about which to worry.  With grandchildren, your kids do the worrying and you get to enjoy them fully.  That's the nice thing about being an aunt, too.

That I was wrong when I thought people were old and feeble at the age I am now.

I can see how your perspective would change.  Did you know any people at your age who were old and feeble when you were younger?

No,  just thought they were. And possibly my grandparents' generation acted a lot different.

My husband had his grandma live with him and his mom until he was 13.  He said that when he was a kid, he thought all old people behaved like his grandma.  Then, when he got a little older, he realized that no, it was just her.

I think people today are much more youthful than when we were young.  My paternal grandparents were nothing like my parents were as grandparents.  For one thing, they were immigrants, so they never really lost their accents and old-country ways.

I was a freshman in high school fifteen years ago.  I never heard of AnswerBag back then.  I spent my time on MySpace and YouTube was only a couple of years old.
