Known as "Chairman Gonzalo", Guzmán was a Peruvian philosopher and political figure who promoted a new theoretical understanding called "Gonzalo Thought". His ideas were based on Marxism, Leninism, and Maoism, and he believed that a peasant dictatorship was necessary to destroy Peru's government.
