    I do both.

Challenging evil, including dangerously erroneous opinions is an absolute necessity at times.

I agree with the words, 'an absolute necessity at times', but one needn't keep repeating the point one made, it becomes very irritating to others!

I love it.. and of course in an ideal world that's what we would all do.. but would it really be right for us all to stand by and say nothing when someone's being hurt or when there is injustice? Sometimes we have to pin our colours to the mast as they say and speak up for what's right...  This is along the lines of all it takes for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.. i am sure i didn't get that quite right but you get the idea.

No, but conveying things can be done without hatred, without using hurtful words. Of course, injustice must never be tolerated, again violent 'means' are not the only 'means'. Many peaceful agitations have been successful, thanks for a very thoughtful answer daydreamer!

Why do people feel that they must do either?  I decide my direction and go.  I don't try to get people to come with me.  Others can't persuade me to go with them.  Each person should be able to resolve the conflict and go their own way.

  • Bashing can be a means of catharsis and change.  And often required.  A society my need to bash criminals, not simply promote civility.
