    Definitely. With some men, that's the adjective that comes to mind, rather than hot/sexy. 

    The only one that comes to mind at the moment is Rob Lowe. While he's grown into "sexy", in the early years, he was definitely more "pretty".

    Of course. 

    There is handsome, rugged, sexy, butch, cuddly, and hot.  Cute and pretty are very common even with the straight man's looks.  Here is hearthrob, Ian Sommerholder.  OH MAN he is beyond pretty.

    Savvy, I don't know what you DO on here exactly?  But the idea when asking a question is to get as many responses as possible.  That is the fun of it.  He will love your chiming in.  I would.  Have fun.  Looking at pics is always fun to do.


    And he is coming out of the closet now.  KIDDING RANDY.  It occurred to me you may regret posting this and seeing a million men.  Oh well, you asked, we like to look at the men candy.

    I never have but I did hear my husband refer to some guys as pretty boys a couple of times but that was always an insult.  The guys that he called pretty boys by him were always business types (dressed in suits and stuff) who were throwing temper tantrums and crying like toddlers.

    Hubby had a job at a rental car company when he was in college and he says the business class customers were the worst behaved so yeah, he's seen lots of grown men cry.  I have a cousin who's a flight attendant and she also told me quite a few horror stories about the business class passengers but instead of calling them pretty boys she calls the same type of person ugly Americans.  (My cousin who's a flight attendant is from another country but she works on flights to and from USA.)

    Umm yeah, some Americans just love to embarrass the rest of us when traveling abroad.

    Sounds like your hubby likes to make sweeping generalizations about people based on their appearance. We're all guilty of this to some extent. I absolutely make immediate judgments of anyone wearing clothing displaying the confederate flag and a "Make America Great Again" hat! 

    I'd say your cousin is being a bit more fair, basing her assessment on the behavior of said passengers, rather than just their appearance. I completely understand calling physically attractive people "ugly", if that's what their behaviors are. :)

    I'm not sure if he's making a sweeping generalization or not because I've only heard him use the term pretty boy to describe a grown man who was dressed a certain way and acting a certain way and yeah, he was talking about business travelers who were acting a certain way but he probably would have found some other insult if they were dressed like total slobs but if an adult is crying and has tears coming down his face over his rental car being the wrong shade of gray then people are just going to find a way to insult him.

    I apologize. That came off b!tchy/insultive, and I didn't mean for it to be. I'm fascinated by human behavior, and my observations come off as judgmental, even though I often don't mean them that way. It is something that I'm conscious of and am trying to work on. I know you don't know me, but trust me when I say, I'm more judgmental of myself than I am anyone else.

    No, but interrestingly enough, I once kidded one of my younger balck female friends (who is hereself rather "attractive") about possibly dating what was a a handsome black man around her age some years ago.  Her comment was, "Oh, no---he's too pretty."  And she certainly wasn't suggesting that she was not in his leagues looks wise.  Her comment was enlightening to me.
