Do you fear getting older?

Why or why not? I know, I know, beats the alternative. But aside from that.

  • I do, a bit, yes. I fear my body not working as well as it does now. I feel getting Alzheimer's. I fear forgetting my life.

Understandable but I hope you never let those fears get in your way. Especially at your age. You've got way too many good years ahead.  :-)

Alzheimer's is a dreadful thing.  My mom is in a nursing home and remembers nothing of her former life - including her children and the man to whom she was married for close to 70 years.  The only positive thing I can tell you is that once you reach a certain point, you don't know what you don't remember and there is no life before any given moment.  Not much, but it's all I've got.  :)

I am older now. However, I am not ready to retire yet.

They say that's a healthy thing, unless you've got the financial resources and well liked activities to fill your time.

Yes, but until we take that final dirt nap, there is always more "older" left.   ;-)

If I get 25 more years I'll be fortunate.

No I don't fear it.. it's never occurred to me TO fear it! The way I see it is that I don't have a lot of choice in that one.. whether I like it or not I will get older... so not a lot I can do to prevent it.. therefore no point worrying or fearing it.. Indeed, if I feel anything - I welcome it. my life is just starting.

I guess the really old bit where you can't do anything is a bit icky.. but I truthfully don't think about it.. I am a bit now fixated

  • I fear being too old to work and not having enough money to retire and I fear losing whatever looks I have.
I fear not being in a relationship when I'm older and I fear not having women check me out anymore, but rather thinking that I'm a dirty old man for looking at them.
I fear health problems and I fear that my mind could age and I might turn it a grumpy old republican, LoL, just kidding.
I'd be lucky to live to be old and to help my son in his life. : )

Totally understandable. But you seem like a strong person and a good father and I think that will help you withstand whatever the coming years may bring.   :-)

I'm glad that you were just joking because women of a certain age don't look for the hot studs the same way as a young woman does.  We're happy with someone who brushes their teeth, combs their hair and showers daily, and has a great sense of humor.  I like to think there's a reason our sight dims as we age.  It's so we can't see all the wrinkles on the faces of those we love.

P.S.  Don't wear your pants under your armpits and white patent leather loafers on your way to the Early Bird Specials and you'll be fine.

Totally agree.... only problem is that men of a certain age are often not looking for women of a certain age. Guess that's why there's a market for red corvettes, diamond pinky rings and toupees.   ;-)

Too late, I'm already there. :)  There are two fears I have about growing old.  One is that I outlive my money and the second is that I will become mentally impaired and be unable to take care of myself.  Once I need someone to wipe my bottom, I'm doing the Xanax and Gray Goose cocktail.
