Truthfully, over the last few years, since I have lost most of my extended family, I have a different view now. While large family gatherings never quite met expectations, I'd love to be able to go to just one more.

  • That makes sence, I get anxiety over large family get togethers , but I know I'll miss them when gone. I'll remind myself of that before Christmas, thanks Jane :)

I hear you and agree.  I've lost some of the most adorable and irritating people I've ever known.  I miss them though.  :) This post was edited by Thriftymaid at October 14, 2017 6:04 PM MDT

Gossiping about the absent relative and when that relative makes a sudden appearance, talk as if she/he was the best...hypocrisy..seems to rule;))

That was the main reason I couldn't stand my husband's family.  All they did was gossip about others.  And they were nasty when talking about those people.  It was beyond irritating and I felt nothing but contempt for them.

Yes.  They didn't appreciate it when I told them I wasn't interested in listening to it and walked away.  The worst time was when my mother-in-law lay dying in a hospital bed.  Two of the women, recognizing I was upset, followed me out of the room and proceeded to tell me what a b*tch she had been to them.  I think you all know me well enough to know what my reaction to THAT was.  Those two beyotches never tried speaking that way, and pulling that shite, with me again.

Yes Harry, we all know you well, I'm sure those two women got what they deserved from you..especially when it was such a tragic scenario!
