What are some countries that make good names for people, either given names or surnames? ~


Here are my choices:
América, Austria, Brazil, Burma, Canada, Chad, China, Colombia, Cuba, Cyprus, Dominica, France, Georgia, Grenada, India, Ireland, Israel, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Macedonia, Malaysia, Monaco, Montenegro, Salvador, Spain, Trinidad, Tunisia, and Venezuela.

    I, too, like Ireland and Israel.  I also like Estonia, Nauru, and we already have lots of Vincents and Marinos.

    In researching this question before posting it, I wondered why Holland didn't show up on the list of names of the world's countries, and I learned something new: Holland is the name of a part of The Netherlands, not the name of the entire country.  In times past, it was the name of the country, but no longer.
