That's an old show song! Don't know as we can make people happy because we can't really make people be one way or another. But we can help people if we think OK this would help me and then try to help them accordingly. Which helps make us feel our life is really worthwhile.
We can cause them to be happy by being honest and kind and loving and faithful. By offering a helping hand when they need one. By listening to them when they need someone to hear what they need to say. By respecting them and being there for them. By being always trustworthy. That is what is implied by the word "make" officegirl. There is nothing whatsoever therein that represents force or demand or control. If you provide the surroundings that I have described above the person will be happier than if you are unloving, unkind, not trustworthy or not helpful. Simple.
