    my freshman year i was the quiet overachiever and by my senior year i was smoking weed everyday and sleeping in english class

    I was quiet, had just a small circle of friends and listened to metal music.  I looked like an dopehead but was not. I did drink some though.
    Dressed in black all the time but was not called an emo....because that term was not around yet. 
    Grades were decent...even so high level courses.

    Sounds like me, especially the wearing all black part. I had no sense of fashion, so black was my solution to that problem. ;)

    I was shy but had a lot of friends and was quite popular.  I liked the social part of HS and the sports and cheerleading  but I hated the actual school part.  I felt like all of my teachers were imbeciles and I just couldn't wait to be finished with public school.  Today I've reconnected with over 150 people I knew back then.  They all seem to feel like we went to a great school.  I don't get it but I stay out of those conversations.  I still think the teachers were wacky.  My girls didn't have teachers like I did.  I was thankful for that.

    Awkward, tongue-tied, and disaffected.  Gawky.  Saw myself as not having the looks or brains or social skills for a normal happy life.  I had some friends but was never asked out until I became sexually active.  Into drugs, cutting classes, staying out all night, hanging out with town boys (I went to all private schools).  Left home at 17 - ran away.
