    For a long time I thought this was about James Taylor, whom I love but later found It was about good Ol' Mick.  Thank Goodness.  I would have been really bummed had it been about James :)

    What I never got about this song is that she sang, "You probably think this song is about you," as if that was so only in his mind, but the song actually WAS about him.

    I can't believe this!  What a Hoot!  As odd as this may sound, I was JUST talking about David Gates with (of all people) my insurance guy yesterday!!
    How could I make this up?  Seriously!  We were talking about great artists that have been lost in the mist and he was one of them.  How funny is that?

  • That truly is a hoot and a half! I think of a friend of mine that is now deceased when I hear that song.(I gave the eulogy at his funeral, to carry it one step further) He was a musician and songwriter who had to give up playing when his hands became crippled by arthritis at an early age unfortunately. "Guitar Man" is such a haunting melody and it carries a very poignant message.
