What's your favorite animal?

Mine has always, since a young age, been the Giant Anteater.

Simply THE coolest, most unique-looking animal for me. I love these critters.

I love ratties. They've always been my little buddies growing up. They're actually pretty smart and can have great personalities. I had one rat who would escape from her cage at night and I'd wake up to her climbing up my blanket then she'd curl up with me. She was such a sweet little rat and she lived well into her old age. I remember I chose her because she was being picked on by all the other ratties and I felt bad for her, I used to get picked on in school for being so meek so I felt her pain. This is simply the hardest question ever, Welby! I cannot choose.

My avatar gives a hint to one of my favorites. But, if I had to choose only one, I suppose it would be canis lupis familiaris (domestic dog). I can't imagine life without them!

That sort of looks like a Chow in there. I like that breed of dog.
    :)
Frogs and unicorns are nice, too. This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at February 14, 2018 7:01 PM MST

    You're right!

I didn't know the unicorn was still there. :-)

Great question, and I love the anteater pics. They're so cool.

I can't get enough of looking at Giant Anteater pics! I agree- - so cool!
    :)

There's a creepy-to-me movie -- from the late 1970's maybe - - called "Frogs." I'm thinking it may not have been well received but I really liked it!

UPDATE: I looked it up - - the movie was from 1972. here's a movie poster of it.

Oh, my! I've never heard of it. Sam Elliott and Joan Van Ark? The day Mother Nature strikes back?? I need to see this!

I only saw it once on TV in my teens but I liked it. (I don't think there is any actual scene in the movie as campy as the image on the poster.)

Tribes people often keep anteaters for pets and guard animals. An ant eater can roar like a lion, and the forearms are powerful enough to rip logs open, so they are formidable when protecting their homes. You would not want one for a pet because if there is a termite in your house, the little beast will tear the house apart to get it.

    You're right - - I'd never want one of as a pet.
    :)

I just like everything about them, though, I admit I don't know that much. I do know how strong they are. But I like them most, i think, on their looks -- so unlike any other kind of animal. and strange, yes.
    :)

    I love the cartoons!

In early strips, the 'anteater' was called the 'eatanter'.

Domestics I like cats & dogs.  We've got a lot of cats, nearly all rescued off the streets, and we had a Pit we rescued, but lost her to cancer.

Wild animals I like the big cats.  Panthers.  Tigers.  Leopards.  Pumas.  Lions.

    And dolphins.  And bears.
